Dave King steps down as Exterion Media MD after 16 months

Exterion Media has announced Dave King will be stepping down as UK managing director of the OOH company.

Jason Cotterrell, who King replaced last year, has been reappointed into the role he had previously held for five years, as well as taking on the role of group chief strategy officer.

King, who only took up the role in January 2017, gave no reason for the short tenure, but said: “I’m confident the business will see continued growth, both within OOH and the wider media industry. I look forward to seeing what comes next.” He had previously worked for Telegraph Media Group where he was executive director for 12 years.

Cotterrell takes up his new position after working in a role focused on developing relationships with landlord partners and transport authorities.

In his new role, Cotterrell will take full responsibility for the UK business, delivering on commitments and plans to partners and stakeholders in the UK and aligning the business with Exterion’s pan-European operations and strategy.

Cotterrell and Taviansky

During King’s tenure as UK MD, Exterion Media launched geo-targeted digital buses, the full-motion digital DX3 network, and the experiential offering Exterion Live. He also oversaw the appointments of a new creative solutions director, digital transformation director, chief revenue officer, head of client sales and head of digital sales.

“We are extremely grateful to Dave for his drive and determination in helping us position the business for future growth,” said Group CEO, Leon Taviansky.

“Jason is a natural successor and his new role will allow us to capitalise on his years of experience in the UK market. He is a strong leader with unparalleled knowledge of the business and will play a key role in shaping its future.”

Cotterrell added: “I am excited to be again working closely with the talented UK team to deliver our vision for our partners and to create fantastic, effective media solutions for our advertisers.

“Dave has made multiple key senior hires, and we are in a position of real strength to realise our ambitions.”

Cotterrell will report into Taviansky and will commence his role on 11 June.
