Chrysalis Interacts With Text Maniacs

Chrysalis Radio is launching its first interactive text messaging campaign, called Galaxy 105 Text Maniacs Club, as part of a move to interact with listeners.
Chrysalis Radio’s online sales director, Ian James, said: “We chose to use text messaging as it’s a medium which lends itself to communicating with our core listeners, 15-35 year olds. It is a great marketing tool that will help us to build and maintain relationships with our listeners.”
Subscribers to the text messaging club, which has been developed with wireless marketing firm Flytxt, will receive special offers and promotions as well as news on Galaxy 105. A series of trailers has been running throughout June offering listeners prize incentives and asking them to join the club by sending an SMS with their postcode.
Flytxt CEO, Lars Becker, said: “It is the first time a radio station has run a text messaging campaign with this level of interactivity. Text messaging is as instant and universal as radio, but allows for a more personalised and targeted communication.”
Flytxt, which has run marketing campaigns for Channel 5 and Emap, also recently announced that it would be running the largest wireless marketing campaign to date with Cadbury’s.
The campaign starts on Chrysalis’ Yorkshire station, Galaxy 105, this month and will roll out across the rest of the Galaxy network in the coming months
