Vizeum UK names Mike McCoy CEO

Dentsu Aegis Network has promoted Amplifi’s Mike McCoy to UK chief executive of its global media agency, Vizeum.

McCoy returns to Vizeum after a five year stint as chief media officer at Amplifi, Dentsu Aegis’ media innovation and investment arm. While there McCoy launched The Story Lab as a premium content offering in the UK, which he has led as executive director.

Prior to this, McCoy worked at Vizeum across a variety of roles for over a decade, having started his career there in 2000. He also spent two years at the agency’s LA office as managing director from 2012 to 2014.

“It’s very exciting to return to Vizeum, which played such a pivotal role in my formative years within the industry,” McCoy said.

“The rate of change that the media industry is experiencing presents plenty of challenges but also a lot of opportunities. I’m looking forward to working with some of the best strategists and planners in the industry to help them harness these opportunities.”

McCoy will begin his new role from September, after which he will report into Matthew Platts, executive director – media and performance at Dentsu Aegis Network UK & Ireland, who called McCoy a “great fit” to lead the business’ evolution as a modern media agency.

“Mike has demonstrated an innate understanding of how to help clients identify the different ways media can be used to help them grow as a business. He combines sharp, strategic thinking with an in-depth knowledge of how content can be used to help reach modern audiences in a meaningful way,” he added.

Vizeum UK’s portfolio of clients includes AB InBev, Burger King, Camelot, IKEA, Shop Direct and TSB.
