The ITC is today inviting applications for a single licence to provide a television service on Channel 5. The licence will be for 10 years with the service to commence no later than the end of 1994.
The successful applicant will be expected to broadcast to at least 30% of the UK by the end of the first year, rising to 74% by the end of the sixth year.
The closing date for applications is July 7 1992. The licence will then be awarded by competitive tender in accordance with the Broadcasting Act.
