Beano Studios has appointed ex-Vice UK boss Matt O’Mara to the newly created role of chief commercial officer, reporting directly to CEO Emma Scott.
In his new role, O’Mara will be developing all aspects of Beano Studios’ commercial proposition, including creative agency services and media partnerships, as well as IP and licensing of show franchises and the commercialisation of Beano’s Gen Alpha research and insight capabilities.
Joining Vice in 2009, O’Mara spent the majority of the last ten years in senior management positions at the magazine company in the UK, for the last six years leading the UK business as MD and more recently as CEO.
“Matt’s proven entrepreneurial and strategic drive is going to be a huge asset to Beano Studios as we continue our energetic growth into new markets and sectors,” said Scott.
“I couldn’t be more proud of the great talent we already have at Beano Studios, and Matt’s addition will be pivotal as we push into the next wave of growth. With Matt on board we are moving up a gear, as we seek to help both our own audience, and businesses we partner with, by using our award-winning ‘everyday rebellion’ drive.”
O’Mara added: “It’s an incredible time to be joining the business and the incredible talent across all areas. I was planning to consult for a variety of companies, but met Emma and knew Beano Studios was the place for me.
“I’ve spent the last decade targeting a twenty/thirty something audience, so to be working in the kids and young adults’ space is fascinating, at a time when they are exerting more influence than ever on both society and consumer spending decision making.
“Beano Studios’ creative thinking, insight and incredible research capabilities can offer brands a significant market advantage in reaching the cohort and their parents.”
