National Newspaper NRS Round-Up – December 2000

Year on year the NRS figures show that the six months to December 2000 did not represent a good period for national newspaper readership. With a drop of 5.2% across the whole sector, losses were suffered in all but three titles. These were the Guardian, which managed to add 1.6%, followed by the Observer, which added 1.1% and the Sunday Times which scraped 0.3%.

Once again the biggest loss was felt at the Times, where a drop of 17.4%. The Daily Star saw a 12% drop and the Daily Express, experiencing a dramatic period in any case, lost to the tune of 11.1%. The Financial Times, which has been registering year on year increases during recent reports failed to do so during this period, dropping 2.4%.
