XBox Online Ads Reach Half A Million In March

Microsoft’s Xbox online marketing campaign gained exposure among half a million internet users during March, helping games advertisers to reach 13.2% of the UK’s online population, according to the latest figures from NetValue.

The campaign, which was launched to support the recently unveiled Xbox website www.playmore.com, accounted for around 25% of the total games advertising market during March. Of those exposed to the campaign, almost 50% were aged 15-24, 30% were students and 20% earned between £1,000 and £4,000 per month.

According to Alki Manias, managing director for NetValue Europe, the Xbox campaign emphasises the potential of online marketing. He said: “The campaign was highly successful in reaching its desired audience, proving that brands are using the internet to target consumers effectively.”

Research from NetValue also shows that the British and Spanish play more games online than any other internet users in Europe. In March 2002 more than 3.5 million unique UK internet users visited an online games site, an increase of a million on the year before.
