Flytxt Launches SMS Competition For Football Fans

Flytxt has launched an SMS advertising campaign to promote the WKD drinks brand among 18-25 year-old football fans.

The campaign, which was devised by 5 Communication, offers consumers the chance to win football strips and other sports-related prizes by texting a code found on the peel-and-reveal labels of selected WKD bottles.

Commenting on the “Peel-Off and Win a Strip” promotion, Karen Salters, WKD’s marketing director, said: “Once the World Cup ended, we knew WKD drinkers would start thinking about the new season, and a new season means a new club strip, which they can now win. The promotion will represent a compelling offer to our target audience and help to launch WKD’s PR initiatives with a number of key Premier League clubs.”

The competition, which features lad’s mag and page-three girl Charlie O’Neale, also offers drinkers the chance to win WKD ringtones and logos.

Earlier in the month Bacardi became the first brand to launch a new product via SMS. The drinks brand used a text message campaign to promote the new Bacardi Limon drink to over 6,000 consumers in the Glasgow area (see Bacardi Launch Is First Among SMS Campaigns).
