‘Give us 15 minutes’ – industry urged to complete second edition of All In Census

Every individual in the UK media, advertising, and marketing industry will be invited to fill in the second All In Census today.

Employees at advertisers, agencies, media owners and tech companies will be asked to take 15 minutes to fill in a confidential survey to measure progress on representation in the industry as well answer questions about pandemic-related topics like hybrid working.

The biennial Census, launched for the first time in 2021, is led by the Advertising Association, IPA, and ISBA with Kantar.

The inaugural survey in 2021 gathered 16,500 responses from an estimated 100,000 people that have roles in the UK advertising industry. The results will be published at the All-In Summit on 11 May.

One of its main findings was that nearly one-third of Black employees were likely to quit their jobs in advertising because the sector is “not inclusive enough”.

The Census sought to gain a deeper understanding of the make-up of the industry, including categories such as gender, ethnicity, and age, and was the foundation for the All In Action Plan’s nine actions to improve experience and representation of different groups in the industry.

Kathryn Jacob, chair of the All In Working Group, said: “Now’s the time to have your say. Help us get the very best sense of the make-up of our industry by giving us 15 minutes of your time.

“The data we can gather through this Census will underpin the next wave of actions we need to take as an industry, to make sure we are building a workplace where everyone belongs. We want to hear the experiences of every single person working in UK advertising and marketing services today.”
