HomeChoice Targets Youth Audiences With Games Channel

Video Networks, owner of internet and digital TV provider HomeChoice, has announced the addition of PlayBite to its line up of entertainment services in an attempt to attract younger audiences with the UK’s first on-demand games channel.

The new channel will promote the best games available for download via Video Network’s games website, playbite.co.uk. The website provides the convenience of digital distribution to both games publishers and customers, while also offering users the ability to download games for free in order to try before they buy.

The channel will screen games reviews provided by leading London based charity, Youth Culture TV. The reviews mark the first ever original content to be commissioned by Video Networks and are designed to appeal to the youth market. Video Networks also plans to develop the PlayBite channel with interactive TV games and weblink functionality, allowing customers to receive links to game downloads via email.

Commenting on the new venture Dean Hawkins, chief operating officer at Video Networks, said: “The launch of video-on-demand games channel PlayBite is another example of Video Networks leading the industry and continuing to be a quality provider of home entertainment. We know that the games industry is phenomenally popular and are delighted that we can continue to cater for our subscribers’ needs with this addition of this service to our platform.”

The HomeChoice service is currently available to residents inside the M25, but the company recently announced an extension of its services, covering an additional 100,000 homes across London and the south-east.
