Data Collection On The Cards For Taxi Advertising

Clear Channel-owned Taxi Media is launching an innovative new data capture product that will allow advertisers to create a highly targeted list of potential customers.

The new initiative will allow clients using the company’s tip-seat advertising format to choose ones with special slots for taxi passengers to deposit their business cards. At the end of the campaign, the cards are collected by Taxi Media and collated into a mailing list of potential customers.

Commenting on the initiative, Greg Forster, general manager at Taxi Media, said: “This new interactive component could be also be used for competitions or special promotions. The average taxi trip lasts twenty minutes so tip-seat advertising is proving an extremely effective, not to mention cost effective, method of targeted communication.”

The new interactive tip-seats are the most recent extension to Taxi Media’s portfolio, which also includes fully branded liveried cabs, branded receipts and rear window panels. The company has been expanding steadily over the last few years and now operates in almost twenty major towns and cities nation-wide.

Taxi advertising came to prominence at the height of the downturn as marketers realised its potential as an efficient and cost effective way of targeting mass-market audiences. The latest research from TGI suggests that 10.5 more than 10.5 million adults saw a taxi ad within the last week.

Originally there was little on offer to brands other than liveried cabs, which are normally booked over the course of six months or a year and involve the taxi being completely re-sprayed. However, now advertisers can choose from a range of less expensive and more creative products, allowing them to create tailored, time-sensitive campaigns.
