MegaPoster Signs Nissan For Coupe Launch Campaign

MegaPoster has secured a deal that will see Nissan promote the launch of its new 350Z coupe with a giant banner campaign including the newly acquired site on the Hicking building in Nottingham.

The campaign, planned by Manning Gottlieb OMD, will run throughout June and July and will feature the car speeding along a main road with the strapline: ‘Don’t forget to breath’. The creative will appear on the 324 square-metre landscape site, which is situated near the heart of Nottingham.

Ian Bohn, sales and marketing director of MegaPoster UK, said: “This is a perfect example of how an increasing number of advertisers are using giant posters for serious branding campaigns. At a time of unprecedented media clutter, they appreciate the unrivalled impact provided by the medium.”

MegaPoster has also secured Anheuser Busch to use the Kensington House in Birmingham for the whole of June as part of its Budweiser freshness campaign. The poster will appear on the 195 square-metre landscape site, which attracts a monthly traffic count of 2.16 million vehicles.

Bohn added: “This is a hot site which immediately appeals to a range of advertisers, and we are already taking bookings for months ahead. I believe it shows that giant posters are becoming a staple medium for mainstream advertisers who want to give their brands impact above all else.”

The increasing popularity of giant banner advertising helped the outdoor industry to get off to a flying start in 2004. The latest figures from the OAA show that the sector continued its recent growth spurt in the three months to March with revenue increasing by a solid 9.1% year on year to more than £184.5 million.

Entertainment and media continued to be the highest spending outdoor advertiser in the first quarter of this year with an investment of £31.2 million. The motor industry took second place with adspend topping £21 million, followed by financial companies, which accounted for £16.6 million of the sector’s total revenue (see Outdoor Advertising Continues To See Revenue Rise).
