Sampson Makes First Appointment At ITV Sales

ITV’s newly merged sales operation has completed its senior marketing line-up with the appointment of Tamsin Denbigh to the newly created role of head of sales customer relations.

The appointment is the first to be made by the broadcaster’s new director of customer relationship management, Justin Sampson, who took up the position last week after more than a decade at the Radio Advertising Bureau (see ITV Poaches RAB’s Sampson To Boost Advertiser Relations).

Denbigh will work closely with Sampson to devise and implement marketing strategies for ITV and the promotion of television as a medium to advertisers and agencies. She will also assume responsibility for ensuring that the customer is put at the heart of all aspects of the ITV Sales operation.

Commenting on the appointment, Sampson, said: “This is a key appointment for the new ITV Sales, which has to find a way of communicating that is highly relevant and highly engaging for our advertiser and agency customer base. Tamsin has the experience and creativity to manage our communications programme, as well as the drive to support the communication of ITV’s value through all parts of the ITV Sales team.”

Denbigh added: “I’m delighted to be joining ITV at such an interesting time in its history. Customer relationship management now plays a pivotal role within ITV Sales and heading up the team will be both challenging and rewarding.”

Denbigh joined ITV Network Centre last year as acting head of customer communications. Prior to that she was marketing manager at Five with responsibility for consumer and trade marketing. She has worked as trade marketing co-ordinator at Flextech and marketing manager at Bravo.

Graham Duff, managing director, of ITV Sales, recently outlined the organisation’s plans to be more customer-centric, more coherent and more pro-active during the coming year. He also promised that ITV Sales would be at the forefront of marketing the television medium to advertisers (see ITV Announces New-Media Sales Appointments).

ITV’s recent charm offensive is being well received by agencies and Andrew Canter, director of broadcasting at Media Planning Group, has welcomed the move to improve client relations. He said: “The contract rights renewal remedy is working well and has given ITV the opportunity to focus on marketing.”
