Mirror Names Carter As Deputy Director Of Advertising

Mirror Group Newspapers has announced the promotion of Dominic Carter to the newly created role of deputy director of advertising with immediate effect.

The role will see Carter assume responsibility for the publisher’s portfolio of national titles, which include the Daily Mirror, the Sunday Mirror and the People. The classified and regional sales offices will also fall under his new remit.

Carter will report directly to director of advertising, Clare Dove, who said: “With a portfolio of this magnitude the support of a strong and talented deputy is critical. Dominic has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in the newspaper industry.”

“Working with Clare over the last four months has been great and I am delighted to be given this opportunity across the whole of MGN advertising. I look forward to the challenges ahead of us in what I know is going to be a successful year for the department,” added Carter.

Carter joined Mirror Group Newspapers in 2000 as head of client services and was promoted to display advertising director in 2002. He has over fifteen years’ experience in the industry, including a stint at News International in Australia, where he set up the sponsorship sales division for Times Newspapers Limited.

Earlier this month Mirror Group Newspapers was forced to deny reports that its general manager Ellis Watson was planning to move back to rival News Group to take up a senior position that would include marketing as part of a wider role (see Mirror Denies Watson Will Defect To Rival News Group).
