Sunday Times To Promote Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The Sunday Times Scotland has announced a wide-ranging programme of sponsorship, sampling competitions and promotions to support this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe between the 8th and 30th of August.

The centrepiece of the newspaper’s campaign is The Sunday Times Scotland‘s sponsorship of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe radio station, broadcasting live from the city centre throughout the event and offering numerous branding opportunities to a tightly targeted audience.

The newspaper will also be using branded promotional bikes, driven around Edinburgh on four consecutive Sundays from 8th August giving away branded mini radios tuned into the Fringe station, as well as copies of Ecosse, The Sunday Times Scotland‘s arts and culture supplement.

Ecosse will also publish an eight page insert on the Festival over the course of the month, covering a different theme in each edition. Readers will have the opportunity to win tickets to sell-out shows and to take up special ticket offers.

Commenting on the range of promotions, Katie Vanneck, promotions director at Times Newspapers Ltd, said: “The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a perfect partner for The Sunday Times Scotland as we are keen to build on the paper’s strong arts and culture heritage. The Festival is a key event in the international arts calendar so it is important for us to have a presence there and show our support.”

Last month saw the Times launch a major trade campaign highlighting its recent circulation increase in an effort to boost advertising revenue and capitalise on its nation-wide tabloid rollout. The campaign claimed that the newspaper’s full price sales are up by more than 3%. However, year on year analysis of the six months to May shows that the newspaper’s circulation has dipped by 1% (see Times Launches Trade Campaign Following ABC Results).
