Further redundancies reported at GCap

GCap Logo According to press reports this afternoon, GCap Media has made further staff redundant from its London-based Capital FM today

The job losses follow the resignation of chief executive and former Capital Radio boss, David Mansfield, who announced his decision to leave the company last month. The radio boss will step down from his position in January to be succeeded by current executive chairman, Ralph Bernard (see Mansfield To Leave GCap Media).

According to MediaGuardian, “around half of the producers at the London station have been axed. Some of the marketing team and interactive department are also believed to have been told they are no longer required.”

Last month saw GCap’s commercial director Linda Smith and operations director Paul Davis both leaving the company, both of whom were former employees of Capital Radio (see Smith And Davis Leave GCap Media). Graham Bryce, head of GCap’s indie station, Xfm, also left the company this week.
