Strictly Come Dancing Continues To Beat X Factor

Strictly Come Dancing BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing retained its Saturday night reign, reaching an average of 8.5 million adult viewers, compared to ITV’s X Factor which attracted an average of 7.3 million.

Both entertainment shows added a substantial amount of viewers to last weeks audiences, with Strictly Come Dancing gaining 1.6 million viewers and X Factor one million. This gave Strictly Come Dancing an audience share of 41.18% and X Factor one of 35.04%.

England’s football victory against Argentina saw BBC1 attract an average of 8.29 million adult viewers to Match of the Day, enjoying an audience share of 49%.

Elsewhere, ITV saw a healthy performance with Parkinson averaging 4.3 million adult viewers tuning in to watch the Madonna interview, amounting to an audience share of 22.43% and almost double the 2.1 million veiwers who watched Channel Five’s CSI.

However, Parkinson failed to beat the BBC1’s Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, which attracted an average of 5.5 million adult viewers giving the programme an audience share of 28.67%.
