E4 Marketing Chief Switches Roles To Main Channel

Channel 4 Logo Channel 4 has appointed Rufus Radcliffe, currently head of marketing at E4, as head of marketing for the main channel.

Radcliffe joined the broadcaster in 2000 to work on the launch of E4, and is currently responsible for the channel’s marketing. For the last year, in addition to working on the E4 brand, Radcliffe has also overseen the launch marketing for Channel 4’s new digital station, More4, which launches on 10 October (see October Launch To Bring More4 To The Masses).

In his new role as head of marketing for Channel 4, Radcliffe will report to Polly Cochrane, director of marketing, and will take responsibility for a team of six, with recent campaign successes including Jamie’s School Dinners, Lost and Desperate Housewives.

Channel 4 is now recruiting for the newly created role of head of marketing digital channels, with marketing responsibility for E4, FilmFour, More4, their multiplexed services and any new digital channels.

Until the new post is filled, Radcliffe will continue to oversee the marketing of E4 and More 4.

Commenting on the appointment, Cochrane said: “I am delighted that Rufus has accepted this fantastic new challenge. He will bring additional strategic and commercial skills together with brand building experience in a multi-channel universe, all of which will serve Channel 4 well as we gear up for switchover.”

Radcliffe added: “Marketing E4 has been an amazing experience, working with a brilliant team of people to create one of the most distinctive brands in digital TV. More4 is also set to become a really strong and successful new channel following its launch next month. The Channel 4 role will be an incredibly exciting new challenge that I can’t wait to get started on.”
