IPC Targets Soap Addicts With One Shot Special

IPC’s fortnightly soap magazine, Soaplife, has announced the creation of a one shot Eastenders Soaplife Special, hoping to entice readers with a celebration of the programme’s 20th year.

The one shot is being produced by Soaplife in association with sister title What’s on TV, and will coincide with the BBC programme’s 20th birthday in February this year.

IPC promises to provide soap fans with the the definitive look back over the last 20 years of Eastenders‘ favourite characters and the most stunning, shocking and sensational moments in the show’s history.

Commenting on the new one shot, Pippa Pollard, IPC tx director of brand and business development, said: “The combined editorial expertise of What’s on TV and Soaplife will ensure that this special takes its own unique and memorable look at the last 20 years of EastEnders. Readers will love it.”

As well as interviews with today’s stars of Eastenders, and faces from the show’s past, the new magazine features unique picture spreads reliving the programme’s most famous moments in addition to a year-by-year guide to the top plots and best storylines. It also offers readers exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the infamous Albert Square.

The EastEnders Soaplife Special goes on sale on 1 February for eight weeks, priced £1.99. The move

follows a price cut earlier this month by What’s on TV, which will see the magazine reduce its cover price to 35p from the issue dated 29 January, following successful price tests in August 2004, and extensive consumer research conducted by IPC tx (see IPC Boosts TV Guide Value With Lower Cover Price).
