IPC Goes Live On Classified Ad Solution

Consumer magazine publisher, IPC Media has announced the installation of a new £1 million new Enterprise computer system, revolutionising its current Classified operation.

The new technology integrates and streamlines all areas of IPC’s current Classified advertising sales, production and management processes, including order entry, scheduling, pricing, composition, pagination, and other management.

Commenting on the new system, Cathy Neale, classified advertising sales director for IPC Advertising said: “The transition to the Enterprise system has been smooth given the scale of the project. The system went live to target in early December, which is a testament to the months of planning and testing carried out by all the teams involved.”

She continued: “The 130+ seat solution will be responsible for processing upwards of 4,000 classified ads each week across the nearly 100 consumer titles published by the company, of which more than 350 million copies are sold each year.”

Ms Neale expects the short term benefits from the new system to improve finance and production workflow, result in a more streamlined advertising booking process and better customer information. It will also reduce the amount of time spent on administration, thus freeing up time for more proactive selling.

Neil Bailey, IT director at IPC Media, said: “Our existing system had reached the end of its active life and was struggling with the growth in our classifieds sales operation for some time. We now have a system that can expand as our company continues to grow and that will capitalise on new opportunities in the classified marketplace.

Patrick Venn, Atex sales director for EMEA congratulated both companies’ implementation teams for their professionalism in planning the change to the new system, stating that both budget and time-lines had been met without any negative impact on ad sales during the changeover.

This requires a great-deal of planning and attention to detail, especially in making sure we meet the user’s particular requirements in a timely manner. Atex software helps the sale process and provides sales people with important CRM benefits. We look forward to working with, and partnering IPC Media by providing innovative cross-media technology into the future.

Last July, IPC Advertising announced the promotion of Sharon Kirby to the position of classified sales director. In the role, Kirby works closely with IPC’s Learning and Development team to create a Sales Academy, streamlining staff training and ensuring they are well placed within the company. The new director’s remit will also include expanding recruitment and training opportunities.
