BBC Scores Ratings Win Over ITV Football

Football The BBC secured a ratings win over ITV last night, despite the commercial giant airing the final match in group G of the Champions League between Chelsea and Liverpool.

The match, which drew an average of 5.6 million adult viewers, ended in a 0-0 draw to leave Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho visibly downbeat.

Meanwhile, the BBC’s Eastenders drew an audience of 8.6 million, followed by 6.3 million for Holby City against ITV’s football. The Corporation’s navy documentary Shipmates failed to complete the winning run against the final half hour of football, however, with an average audience of 4.3 million.

Elsewhere Channel 4’s Wife Swap performed well, providing the highlight of the broadcaster’s evening with 2.2 million viewers on average, while Five’s CSI:Miami drew an average 2.9 million.
