IPC Appoints Hollamby As Head Of Electronic Media

Kim Hollamby IPC Country & Leisure Media (CALM) has announced the next phase of its internet development strategy, appointing Kim Hollamby as its first head of electronic media.

The position will see Hollamby taking overall responsibility for the strategic development of CALM’s internet operations, overseeing a leading portfolio of 41 web brands, including countrylife.co.uk, decanter.com, horseandhound.co.uk and webuser.co.uk.

As part of its internet development scheme, CALM is introducing improvements to existing websites, with its in-house team looking at new tools to provide readers of its magazines with easier access to newsagent, subscription and archive information. The developments will also offer advertisers a broader range of cross-media opportunities.

Commenting on Hollamby’s appointment, Paul Williams, IPC CALM managing director said: “Kim has been absolutely central to the highly successful development of the IPC CALM websites. During this time, 15 websites have been launched or redeveloped, delivering record subscriptions;

He added: “With the importance of websites to specialist magazine titles and the resultant pace of our web development, Kim’s new role will focus on driving forward these initiatives. With more than 20 years experience in the marine publishing industry, he will also retain consultative roles on ybw.com and IBI [International Boat Industry].”

Alongside Hollamby’s appointment, Keith Walker has been promoted to the role of site editor for ybw.com, moving from his current role as content manger at IPC Focus Network, at which he successfully implemented and developed the roll-out of 20 magazine microsites for the specialist division.

IBI deputy editor, Ed Slack, has also been promoted, assuming the position of editor of IBI and IBINews.com. The changes also see IPC’s corporate communications web co-ordinator, Gemma Bailey, becoming Focus Network’s content manager.

Last month saw IPC’s Essentials magazine unveil a new look and reduction in size as part of the title’s re-positioning and re-targeting at a younger audience (see IPC Shrinks Essentials To Appeal To Younger Audience).

The new look, comprising a thorough re-design, made its debut in this month’s issue, seeing a smaller, ‘convenience size’ format, new logo, typefaces and enhanced colour-coded sections for easier navigation. The title also features a bold, colourful layout, with each page streamlined to attract time-pressed readers.
