Channel 4 Sports Boss Gets Transfer To Eurosport

Eurosport Logo Channel 4’s head of sport, David Kerr, is to become the new director of broadcast with British Eurosport, charged with managing all programming, production and promotions for the rapidly expanding digital channel.

The move will see Kerr take up his new position at the end of August, reporting to Francois Schmitt, the company’s deputy-managing director of broadcast, based at its headquarters in Paris.

Commenting on his move, Kerr said: “I’ve had a wonderful five years at Channel 4, but this is an opportunity that was just too exciting to turn down. Eurosport has a great portfolio of live sport. Its audience is growing and I believe there’s even more potential.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the team there to develop our programming and take it to a wider audience.”

Channel 4 is believed to have begun its search for Kerr’s replacement.

Eurosport recently launched on Pay-TV platform, Top Up TV, making its broadcasts available to a potential additional audience of around five million Freeview households (see Top Up Bags Eurosport To Complete Channel Line Up).
