Capital Radio Launch Interactive Chart

Capital Disney, the digital radio station for 8-14 year olds has announced the launch of its Most Requested Chart, giving listeners the first chart voted for purely by children who text in or vote via the website for their favourite song.

The votes form both The Most Requested Chart Show, which will be broadcast every Saturday from 12-1pm and will dictate the play list for the whole station.

Simultaneously, a partnership developed by MXR Digital gives The Funday Times the chart to print every Sunday. In return, Capital Disney will broadcast advertising trailers every day promoting the paper.

Commenting on the launch, Diane Wray, MXR Digital marketing manager said: “Capital Disney and the Funday Times super serve an under 14 audience and this partnership will boost awareness of both offerings.”

Will Chambers, programme manager of Capital Disney said: “We’re delighted to be working with Funday Times on the Most Requested Chart. Capital Disney is the only radio station dedicated to kids aged 8-14 and this new chart will show exclusively reflect our audiences’ music tastes.”

Dave Coombs, editor of the Funday Times added: “We are excited to be working with Capital Disney on The Most Requested Chart. it gives readers a fantastic new way to interact with The Funday Times and to influence what they hear on the radio.”

Last year, Capital Disney secured a cross-platform contract to promote Twentieth Century Fox’s childrens film Cheaper by the Dozen. The venture was the first of its kind and featured online advertorials, as well as traditional radio spots and sponsored show elements.

The Most Requested Chart Show will air on the 26 February, and the chart will be out the following day, 27.
