Freeview Playback Service Is Delayed

A massive marketing campaign for a range of Freeview compatible PVR products, promoted under the Freeview Playback brand, has been delayed until next year due to a technical hitch.

According to reports in the trade press, the campaign was due to launch this month, and was said to be critical in driving awareness of PVRs on the platform and preventing customers from departing the platform.

A spokesman for Freeview is quoted in the trade press as saying: “The time scale for the launch of Freeview Playback was very ambitious, but we’re still confident there will be products in the shops before Christmas.”

BT Vision has also apparently suffered technical problems, which have delayed its launch (see BT Unveils Next Generation TV Service).
