Titan Outdoor Swaps BBC For Sky News

Titan Outdoor Logo Titan Outdoor will switch its news content on its national ‘Transvision’ digital outdoor network of screens from the BBC to Sky News, giving Sky News an additional audience of around three million people each week.

The BBC has broadcast on the Outdoor company’s 17 huge screens in Network Rail termini across the UK since 2003, and will continue to provide content until early next year. Sky News will launch in February 2007.

Transvision will now provide five strands of up-to-the-minute news from Sky News, including main news, financial news, entertainment news, sports news and weather. The content will be constantly updated and Sky News will also take advantage of Transvision’s national network by providing regional sports and weather updates for the screens based around the UK.

Sky Media, Sky’s advertising sales division, will also be selling sponsorship of the Sky News content strands on behalf of Titan. Brands will be able to sponsor strands such as sports news, business and weather.

Alison Reay, joint managing director of Titan Outdoor, said: “Transvision has evolved considerably since its launch in 2000 and its focus on innovation enabled it to remain at the forefront of the digital outdoor revolution.

“The BBC has been a great partner to work with over the past three years but the recent repackaging of the advertising opportunities signals a new era. We are delighted that Sky News has agreed to become our new content provider, as their strengths are well suited to the Transvision offering. We look forward to a fruitful partnership over the coming years.”

John Ryley, head of Sky News, added: “Sky News has always been at the forefront of delivering breaking news to audiences in innovative ways. Our partnership with Titan represents a great opportunity to provide regular updates to travellers on the move and is part of a strategy to make Sky News available through a wide range of digital media.”

Earlier this year, Titan Outdoor bought poster specialist Maiden Group for just under £50 million (see Titan Worldwide Secures Control Of Maiden For £50m), as well as acquiring a majority holding in the bus advertising division of Adbus (see Titan Worldwide Takes Majority Stake In Adbus).
