A new UK based online TV channel is to launch later this month, featuring professionally produced news, features and sports content which will be available both online and via mobile.
YourKindaTV has already been tested on a trial audience, which has grown to around 10,000 users. The channel is moving towards a consumer launch with a daily show to be broadcast by 10am from mid to late September.
The channel is aimed primarily at students and office workers and its features will include user generated content. Users will also be able to subscribe to the shows via iTunes.
YourKindaTV will be funded by TV spot adverts between features. On Mondays the channel will be an ad free zone.
Viewing figures are predicted to grow 100 fold over the next 12 months, rising to an expected 100,000 viewers per week. International versions of the show are planned to roll out over 2007.
Michael Oxley, COO at YourKindaTV, said: “Both our technology and our approach allows for a very personal relationship with our users. This should help us capitalize on the growing demand for engaging and entertaining online and mobile content through the creation of a new digital space which will push the boundaries of user generated content.
“Whilst our shows use online delivery mechanisms, they will be focused primarily on offline news, gossip and topics. Our show will also be an open dialogue where our viewers’ contributions make up an equal part of the show.”
