Charlotte Church Attracts 2 Million Viewers To Channel 4

Channel 4 Logo Charlotte Church’s new Friday night chat show on Channel 4 was not the massive hit that might have been expected, bringing in a peak of 2 million adult viewers (an 11.5% audience share) in its 10pm slot.

The show’s audience figure decreased over the programme’s duration, with 1.1 million adults (an 8% audience share) left watching as it finished at 10.50pm. The show managed an average audience figure of 1.9 million adults (an 11.2% audience share).

On Saturday evening England took on Andorra on BBC1 in Steve Mclaren’s first competitive game at the helm. The match attracted a peak audience figure of 8.2 million adults (a 46.6% audience share) just before the end of the game and brought in an average figure of 6.8 million adults across the whole of BBC1’s coverage.

The big ITV1 show of the night was the X Factor, which managed a peak audience figure of 7.7 million adults (a 38% audience share) in its hour long timeslot at 7pm.

On a good weekend for sport, ITV1 also did well with their Big Fight Live programme, which brought in an average of 2.6 million adults (a 15% audience share), with a peak of 3.2 million adults tuning in at the beginning of the boxing coverage.

On Sunday, BBC1 had more football on display, this time a match between Brazil and Argentina that was being played at Arsenal’s fantastic new stadium. The match picked up a peak audience of 5.3 million adults, while over the whole of the coverage there was an average figure of 2.7 million adults (a 25% audience share).

The most watched programmes of Sunday night were Emmerdale, with a peak figure of 6.8 million adults, and Coronation Street, with a peak of 8.6 million adults, both on ITV1. It was a good evening for the beleaguered channel, with viewers mostly staying on after Coronation Street finished, watching Where The Heart Is (which managed an average viewing figure of 5.2 million adults) and then Midsommer Murders (with an average of 5.3 million adults) in pretty consistent numbers.
