Free Sport Magazine Launches In London

Free Sport Magazine Launches In London

Sport A new free magazine, Sport hit London’s streets this morning, hoping to have the same success here as it has had in Paris.

The 48-page magazine is based on a format which has already seen success in France, and is quite similar in style to the Observer Sport Monthly. It will be available every Friday from tube stations, gyms and sports clubs and company headquarters.

The first edition, featuring Arsenal superstar Thierry Henry on the cover, contains three full-page ads, for Gillette, Sony Ericsson and Apple iPods.

The magazine, which focuses on a variety of sports, has some excellent photography, with its Frozen In Time cross-page spreads capturing sporting events at critical moments.

Targeted at 18-40 year old males, Sport‘s initial London launch sees 350,000 copies distributed, before a national roll-out follows within the next six months.

Regular features in Sport include a health and fitness section, profiles of sporting stars, a TV guide to the week’s most watchable events and a new kit section.

Associated Newspapers and News International recently launched free afternoon titles onto the market (see thelondonpaper Launches And The Free Newspaper War Begins), although it remains to be seen how they will fare.
