Neil Robinson, currently publishing director of IPC tx titles TVTimes, TV & Satellite Week and Soaplife, has been appointed to the new role of IPC digital development director.
Robinson will lead the strategic development of all new digital properties across the IPC portfolio, working closely with each of the divisional managing directors and their digital directors. He will report directly to Sylvia Auton, IPC Media chief executive.
Robinson joined IPC in 1994 as circulation sales executive on the IPC Music & Sport portfolio. He then moved to publishing, working across a range of brands within the division, including NME, Uncut and Loaded.
In 1999 Neil was named commercial director of NME.COM to oversee its expansion. In 2002 Neil was appointed publishing director of the IPC ignite! music portfolio, winning the Periodical Publishers Association Publisher of the Year award in 2004 for his work on NME.
In 2005, Neil took up his current role in IPC tx, and earlier this year successfully re-launched TVTimes, one of the UK’s best-loved TV weekly brands.
Robinson said: “IPC Media has many of the most famous and well loved brands in Britain. Our readers love their magazines, but their need for trusted advice, knowledge and guidance is now extending beyond print.”We have proven with our long established online brands that we serve our consumers as well online as we do in print, but we need to move faster as a company to keep up with their appetite. It is my job to make sure we deliver a first class digital strategy alongside our magazine business.”
Sylvia Auton said: “Neil’s appointment signals the importance that the IPC Media board places on extending our brand equity in the digital space.
“Reporting to me, Neil will work closely with the divisional managing directors and their online, digital, publishing and sales directors to accelerate IPC’s overall digital programme.”
