Virgin Gets Lucky With Lottery Promotion

Virgin Radio Logo Virgin Radio has signed a new promotion for Britain’s newest lottery, Monday, which rewards unlucky players if no-one manages to match all six numbers.

The activity will feature on air activity based around the theme of “famous Mondays,” with callers asked questions on either infamous events that have happened on a Monday, or facts relating to the first day of the week.

The competition will run throughout Monday 8th May, spanning the Christian O’Connell, Russ Williams, Neil Francis and Martin Collins shows, with each offering listeners the chance to win £1,000.

The promotion is part of the new lottery’s launch, which claims to be “fairer” than the existing National Lottery run by Camelot.

Monday promises more of its revenue to British-based charities and has over 50 charity partners, including Shelter, the British Heart Foundation and War Child. The lottery has run by Chariot, and is named the “lottery for unlucky people,” as the prize will go to the closest match if no-one chooses all six winning numbers.

“The Monday lottery is an effort to address the shortcomings of the National Lottery, raising money for charities whilst offering the players better odds and better prizes for matching fewer numbers,” said Chariot in a statement. “By tying in with Virgin Radio we’ll be encouraging the station’s national audience to play a new and exciting lottery that succeeds in raising significant amounts of money for our charity partners.”

“This is a great promotion that provides our listeners with a reason to smile on the first day of the week,” said Nick Hewat, sales director at Virgin Radio. “By giving listeners the opportunity to win cash prizes in conjunction with the Monday lottery, we’re not only giving them a good start to the week but also helping to create a buzz around a worthwhile cause.”
