Radio 3 To Revamp Breakfast Show

XFM Logo BBC Radio 3 is to appoint a new breakfast show presenter as part of an overhauled schedule that will include more specially recorded broadcasts.

Rob Cowan, is to replace current presenter Penny Gore to host the Rob Cowan Show between 7am and 10am, when the station’s new schedule is irolled out on February 17 next year.

Radio 3’s live and specially recorded music output will grow from 52% to 54%. However, some of the programmes will be broadcast the day following the actual live performance.

Roger Wright, the controller of Radio 3, said: “By live music we mean things that are specially recorded and not aired from discs and playlists – and the amount of these is actually going up.

“Some things will be aired the next day but that means that we don’t have to fill time when a piano is tuning up and we can edit effectively. We will maintain the same range and spread, actually offering listeners more.”
