Christian Toksvig, the Danish born CEO of OK! in the US, is believed to be returning to London to launch a free newspaper, after leaving the American edition of the magazine after its first birthday.
Reports in the trade press suggest Toksvig is returning to Britain to help spearhead publishing tycoon Richard Desmond’s bid to win the franchise for a new free daily afternoon paper, to be distributed at London rail and Underground stations.
Before joining Desmond’s organisation, Toksvig worked for Associated Newspapers’ free London daily Metro. In London, Toksvig will also be overseeing all the overseas editions of OK!.
Earlier in the year, Network Rail began seeking bids for a publisher to produce and distribute a free afternoon paper at ten of London’s busiest stations (see Bids Wanted For New Commuter Newspaper).
