Eastenders was once again a ratings winner for BBC One, attracting a peak audience of 6.6 million adult viewers in its 7.30pm time slot.
The show brought in an average of 6.2 million adult viewers (a 41% audience share) on a strong night for BBC One. Preceding the soap, Seaside Rescue, where the RNLI beach lifeguards were in a race against time to save a stranded porpoise, brought in a peak of 4.7 million adults, while Holby City at 8pm attracted an average of 4.6 million adults.
On Channel 4, Big Brother brought in an average of 4.4 million adult viewers (a 23% audience share) across its hour-long episode, and peaked at 4.7 million adults.
ITV1’s biggest figures of the night were for Emmerdale, whose loyal viewers are sticking with it in its World Cup time slot of 10pm. It brought in an average of 4.1 million adults (a 22% audience share) over the half-hour that it was on. At 8pm, up against Holby City, The Bill on ITV1 managed a peak of 3.5 million adults, with an average of 3.4 million (a 20% audience share).
