Coronation Street Edges Out Eastenders

Coronation Street Coronation Street attracted a peak audience of 7.6 million adult viewers to its 8.30pm edition last night, ahead of its nearest rival Eastenders, which peaked at 7.3 million.

The average audience for the 8.30pm Coronation Street was 7.2 million adults (a 40% audience share), while the earlier edition, at 7.30pm, brought in an average of 6.9 million adults (a 44% audience share) and peaked at 7 million. Eastenders meanwhile, at 8pm, attracted an average audience of 7.2 million adults (a 44% audience share).

Big Brother was the big winner for Channel 4, with a peak audience of 5.2 million viewers. Over the course of the hour-long programme an average of 4.9 million adults (a 25% audience share) settled down to see what the latest goings-on were in the Reality show.

On Five, the only programme to break the one million mark was Home And Away, with an average of 1.3 million viewers (a 10% audience share), peaking at 1.4 million.
