Strong Night For BBC One As Love Island Continues To Struggle

BBC Logo Eastenders was back on top last night, attracting a peak audience of seven million adults (a 44% audience share) in its 7.30pm timeslot.

The BBC One soap brought in an average of 6.6 million adult viewers (a 42% audience share) across its half hour, many of whom stayed with the channel to watch The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, which averaged five million adult viewers (a 28% audience share).

ITV1’s best performing show of the evening was Emmerdale, which brought in a peak of 5.9 million adults and averaged 5.8 million (a 39% audience share) in its 7pm slot.

The Bill and Bad Girls also did well for ITV, attracting peak audiences of 4.1 million and 3.9 million adults respectively, although following Bad Girls, Love Island was less impressive, managing an average audience of just 1.9 million adults (a 10% share of the audience).

Big Brother was again Channel 4’s most watched show, attracting a peak adult audience of 4.6 million viewers (a 27% audience share) and an average of 4.1 million adults (a 25% audience share).
