The RAJAR figures for the first quarter of 2007 show that digital radio continues to perform strongly, with a healthy increase in the number of DAB homes in the UK.
The Q1 figures show that 20% of the UK population now live in DAB homes, up from 16% in the fourth quarter of 2006, with increases also in the number of people listening to radio via the internet and via digital television.
According to the data, 24% of people now listen to radio via the internet, an increase from 22% on the last quarter, whilst 41% now listen via DTV, up from 39% in Q4.
The frequency of listening to the radio via DTV at least once a week was up from 20.6% in the last quarter to 22.5% in Q1 2007.
The potential UK digital radio audience increased to 58% of the UK population (28.8 million adults), up from 55% in Q4.
It was also revealed that nearly 33% had visited a radio station website during the first quarter of the year, whilst 16.7% listened to a national station online, an increase from 14.2% in Q4.
The amount of people saying that they had listened via the internet at all was also up, from 20.8% in Q4, to nearly one in four in Q1 2007.
A quarter of 15-24 year olds with a mobile phone (1.6 million) listen to the radio via their handsets, the same figure as for the fourth quarter.
In addition, 2.5 million (18% of mp3 player owners) use their mp3 player to listen to downloaded podcasts, up from 2.1 million in Q4.
