Sky’s broadband video download service, Sky Anytime, has reached one million downloads a year after its launch.
The service, which was formerly known as Sky By Broadband, gives on-demand access to Sky Movies, Sky One entertainment and documentary series and Sky Sports news direct to PCs.
Sky Anytime celebrated its one year anniversary on January 14 and is set to be expanded to include more content from both Sky and its channel partners.
According to Sky, the service now has a quarter of a million registered users, and offers an increasing archive of over 300 movies.
Movies on Sky Anytime cost £3.95 to download, with viewers able to keep pay per view content on their PCs for seven days.
Yesterday it was rumoured that James Murdoch, chief executive of Sky was to leave the satellite broadcaster in the summer to join his father, Rupert, at News Corp (see James Murdoch Could Leave Sky). However, these rumours have been rejected by sources close to the Murdoch family.
