Fru Hazlitt Appointed GCap Chief Executive

Fru Hazlitt Fru Hazlitt has been appointed chief executive of GCap Media with immediate effect. Hazlitt currently serves as an executive director of GCap as managing director, GCap London.

As announced by GCap on November 23, 2007, current Chief Executive Ralph Bernard signalled his intention to step down on appointment of his replacement (see Ralph Bernard Steps Down As GCap Chief Exec) and has left the board today.

Hazlitt joined GCap’s board in May 2007. Previously, she spent two years as chief executive of Virgin Radio and prior to that six years at Yahoo! where she joined the company in 1999 as European sales and marketing director and in 2003 became managing director of Yahoo! UK & Ireland.

She is a non-executive director of Woolworths Plc and Betfair.

GCap chairman Richard Eyre said: “I am delighted to appoint Fru as GCap’s new Chief Executive. She has a wealth of experience and is absolutely the right person to lead the company at such an important time for the radio industry.

“Her breadth of experience in radio and digital media is unparalleled as is her track record in building brands and managing content across analogue and digital media. I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Hazlitt said: “I feel privileged to have been given this opportunity. I joined GCap with a strong conviction that it has a great future and the six months I have spent here have only reinforced this view.

“We have great people and both locally and nationally we have historic brand equity and a status that will enable us to win within the multiplatform environment.

“I look forward to presenting our plans in early 2008.”
