ABCe Shows Guardian Unlimited On Top

ABCe Logo The Audit Bureau of Circulations Electronic (ABCe) figures released today show that Guardian Unlimited, the Guardian‘s online network, had just over 15 million UK and international users during March.

Times Online, the site’s main competitor, recorded eight million.

The Guardian is one of four national newspaper groups that have chosen to publish its ABCe figures every month in a bid to improve the transparency and credibility of web traffic statistics. Today’s ABCe figures for March marked the first time that traffic data for all four has been made available in this way.

Recently the two titles were involved in a war of words over who was the top scoring site (see Making Sense of the Ad Opportunity Today), whilst web traffic for newspaper sites has grown as circulation for their print counterparts dwindle (see Newspapers’ Print Circulations Decline As Web Traffic Blossoms).

Guardian Unlimited had 15,093,058 unique users in March and recorded 146,979,741 page impressions. Times Online had 8,048,029 users and 57,681,199 impressions, and The Sun had 7,797,032 users and 151,438,441 page impressions.

The Telegraph had 7,392,803 users and 69,559,359 impressions.
