Icstis Denies Sun and Star Claims

Telephone Icstis, the premium phone line regulator, has hit back against claims in the Sun and the Daily Star that it has imposed a fine of £250,000 on Channel 4’s Richard & Judy Show.

The articles said that Icstis had ruled that the You Say, We Pay quiz on Richard & Judy had breached rules and the regulator had therefore imposed the fine.

However, in a statement, Icstis said: “Icstis wishes to make it absolutely clear that these reports are incorrect. The case involving the You Say, We Pay service has not yet been considered by an Icstis adjudication panel.

“When it is considered by that panel, it alone will determine liability for any breaches of the Icstis Code of Practice and, if that was to be established, only then will it determine what sanction, if any, should be applied. The case will proceed only in accordance with proper process.”

The You Say, We Pay quiz is one of several phone-line investigations currently underway, with the regulator recently announcing that it is to set tough new rules for television quiz shows (see Icstis Gets Tough With New TV Quiz Rules).
