Women’s celebrity glossy Hello! has just launched a new digital edition, available online as soon as the print edition hits newsstands.
A user friendly format, accessed through hellomagazine.com, replicates the print version, even allowing users to flick through its virtual pages.
The digital mag also includes a search feature, enabling readers to track down a specific story or celebrity, and a save facility so the readers can store back issues on their computers.
Online readers can purchase either a single digital issue of the mag or take out a year’s subscription to the digital version.
Verity Smart, co-editor of hellomagazine.com, said: “Having been at the cutting-edge of the online media industry for the last six years, it is a natural progression for hellomagazine.com to bring readers their favourite celebrity read in a digital format.
“And with the exceptional quality of reproduction, the digital version of Hello! is just as glossy and gorgeous as the print original.”
It seems as if digital magazines are the next big thing, with NatMags expected to launch an online weekly fashion and entertainment product for teen girls in March (see New Online Mag To Launch In March) whilst IPC have announced a major digital launch in May (see IPC Media Gets New Corporate Identity).
Dennis Publishing’s Monkey, the first of the new breed of magazine to burst onto computer screens when it launched in November, had its first set of ABCe results last week.
The weekly men’s digital only title recorded an ABCe figure of 209,002, well above its original target of 100,000 (see ABC Results Jul-Dec 2006:Large Declines For Men’s Mags).
