GMG Radio Invests In Original Content

GMG Radio GMG Radio has started a new drive to invest more in original content by asking independent production companies to pitch new documentary ideas.

GMG hopes to produce new documentaries on its Smooth, Real, Century and Rock Radio stations from January, according to reports.

John Myers, chief executive at GMG Radio, is leading the initiative, while it is paid for by Scott Trust.

GMG plan to feature a number of new programmes this autumn, including a four-part series on music in court called ‘Rock in the Dock‘, soldiers talking about their experiences of war in ‘Blogs from Bunkers‘ and Kiki Dee talking about music in ‘You’ve Got Soul‘.

GMG commissioned QuestionAir to carry out research into their programming, which found that 88% of respondents enjoyed documentaries on its stations.

John Simons, group programme director at GMG, said the positive listener response demonstrates that GMG Radio’s listeners enjoy new and unexpected content.
