Guardian News & Media Commits To Six-Monthly ABCe Audits

ABCe Logo Guardian News & Media has today committed to releasing data on the new ABCe six month certificate.

The data covers the Guardian News & Media portfolio together with a number of its regional sites including: manchestereveningnews.co.uk, manchesteronline.co.uk, getreading.co.uk and thejobsmine.co.uk.

The certificates detail monthly, weekly and daily unique user/browsers, listing all the top level domains that have been audited in the reporting period. Additionally, they contain charts that provide users with a clear visual understanding of the certified online activity.

Regional newspaper publishers have previously reported their website figures only on an ad hoc basis. The six monthly certificate, requires continuous reporting, and enables regional media owners to report their online data alongside their print figures. The certificate reports to industry agreed metrics through JICWEBS.

Martyn Gates, ABC’s director of newspapers, said: “It is highly encouraging to see Guardian News & Media become the latest publisher to sign up to the ABCe six monthly certificate.

“This clearly demonstrates the importance for media owners to provide advertisers with figures which are credible, comparable and transparent by committing to have their site traffic figures independently verified to industry agreed standards.”

Guardian.co.uk’s latest ABCe figure shows that its users jumped by a massive 2.5 million in August, breaking yet another record for online traffic (see Olympic Fever Sees Online National Newspapers Figures Soar).
