New figures released by comScore show that 27 million people in the UK watched more than 3.5 billion videos online in March this year.
YouTube accounted for nearly half of all videos viewed online and 99% of the videos watched on Google sites, which topped the table as the most popular site to access online videos.
Google attracted 20.7 million viewers – a 48% share of all online videos viewed in the UK, followed by BBC sites with a 1.2% share and Fox Interactive Media with a 0.9% share.
Microsoft and Yahoo! sites came in 4th and 5th place, according to the research, which excludes searches from public computers or access from mobile phones or PDAs.
Internet users watched an average of 127.7 videos per viewer in March, which is the highest usage rate of any of the five countries being monitored by comScore – including the US, Canada, France and Germany.
The study also found that 81.2% of all internet users in the UK viewed online videos in March and average online video was three minutes long.
