Champion’s League Scores For ITV1

Arsene Wenger Last night’s controversial Champion’s League match between Arsenal and Liverpool was a big winner for ITV1, with the game’s coverage attracting an average of almost seven million adults to the channel.

The quarter final second-leg, which saw Liverpool beat their southern rivals following a ‘dodgy penalty’, gave the channel a 31% viewing share between 7.30pm and 10pm.

Over on BBC One, EastEnders lured 7.9 million as Bianca yelled “Rickaaay” on the square for the first time in many years. The soap took a 38.5% share between 7.30pm and 8pm, with popular hospital drama, Holby City, following.

The show gained an average adult audience of over 5.1 million (22.4%), whilst the kooky Hotel Babylon captured over 3.9 million (17.3%) between 9pm and 10pm.

University Challenge and Johnny’s New Kingdom, which follows Johnny Kingdom’s exploits as he develops a 52-acre plot of land on the edge of Exmoor bought with the proceeds of his best-selling autobiography, brought just over 1.7 million and almost 1.8 million respectively to BBC Two.

Meanwhile, a new series of How To Look Good Naked gave Channel 4 its best audience of the night with over 2.4 million viewers, whilst CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was a hit for Five with 2.7 million between 9pm and 10pm.
