Vigin Radio’s programming and marketing director, David Lloyd, is set to leave the station following its sale in June.
The station was sold to a consortium including The Times of India Group for £53 million, and is due to be renamed and re-branded following a £15 million investment (see Virgin Radio Sale Confirmed).
Lloyd will be replaced by former Capital Radio executive, Clive Dickens, who wants to return the station to its rock and pop era of eight years ago.
Dickens said: “When you look at the top-line performance you can quite easily point to a time circa 2000 or 2001 when the business had significantly more audience than it has now.”
He added: “[Virgin Radio] was part of a very different landscape back then, but what we want to try to do is create a new brand and new content to make it somewhere at least as popular as it was in the past.”
An internal reorganisation is expected to take place at Virgin, with the amalgamation of its marketing and digital departments.
Andy Grumbridge, digital media director is also leaving the company, along with Lloyd, who has been with Virgin for less than a year.
Lloyd previously worked at Galaxy and Century Radio, now owned by GMG Radio.
