TV Market Round-Up – June 2008

TV Market Round-Up – June 2008

TV Remote Control

June was a terrible month for all terrestrial stations, with year on year revenue falls seen amongst all stations. The failure of England to qualify for Euro 2008 had been predicted to impact on ITV1’s revenue, and that proved to be the case, with the network recording a year on year decline of 1.8% on June 2007.

There was worse news for Channel 4, which recorded the greatest year on year fall amongst terrestrial stations. The once powerful ratings juggernaut Big Brother has been struggling for viewers, as well as having to deal with further controversial incidents. This combined to see the channel take in revenues of £50.69 million, 4.8% lower than 2007’s total

Meanwhile Five, which had the second biggest year on year drop, took in £20.84 million for the month (down 6.5%). ITV1 breakfast station GMTV declined least, with its revenue down just by 1.2% to stand at £4.24 million

Total Satellite saw its revenue total increase by 18.9% year on year, to stand at £81.02 million
