APA Appoints New Chairman

Martin MacConnol The Association of Publishing Agencies has announced that Martin MacConnol, CEO of Wardour Publishing & Design, will take over as chairman from Sean King.

MacConnol is expected to be in the role until this time next year and will be responsible for developing the APA’s new business consultancy, APA Ask, as well as its latest research initiative APA@.

Julia Hutchinson, COO APA, said: “We have a fantastic team at the APA and are looking forward to working with Martin, who is renowned for his understanding and expertise.”

MacConnol added: “Customer publishing is a dynamic industry that is going from strength to strength. I am looking forward to getting my teeth into the Chairmanship so that I can assist the APA in continuing to grow in the market.”

During Sean King’s 12-month term as chairman the APA launched the Olive Awards, to complement the Annual Effectiveness Awards – winners of the second set are due to be announched this month at a ceremony in London.

King’s term also saw APA Ask add more than £30 million of incremental revenue to the industry, introducing customer publishing budget from big brands such as Song and Bang & Olufsen.

Hutchinson added: “Every incoming chairman has a tough job ahead of them as the industry has extrememly high expectations, as it should. We have seen phenomenal growth over the last few years and we are committed to ensuring this continues.”
