Liverpool Win Triumphs Over Opposition

Liverpool Inter Milan The return of Hotel Babylon was no match for Liverpool’s last minute win in the UEFA Champion’s League last night, with the game attracting just under 5.7 million adults on average to ITV1.

Liverpool’s 2-0 triumph over Italian league champions Inter Milan gave the channel a 24.4% audience share between 7.30pm and 10pm, whilst the start of series three of the seductive Hotel Babylon lured over 4.7 million (20.2%) between 9pm and 10pm.

Earlier, between 8pm and 9pm, Holby City put up a good fight, with over 5.8 million tuning in to the drama, giving BBC One a 24.6% viewing share.

Just under 8.3 million joined EastEnders, as the battle between the Brannings and the Mitchells stepped up a gear. The soap gained a 37.8% share for BBC One between 7.30pm and 8pm, whilst earlier The One Show proved a worthy competitor to ITV1’s Emmerdale.

The soap drew over 6.6 million (33.5%) to ITV1 whilst the magazine format gained an impressive audience of almost 5.4 million (27.1%).

Over on Channel 4 between 9pm and 10pm, a BodyShock special, The Girl With Eight Limbs, which followed the story of Lakshmi Tatma who was born with one of the world’s rarest physical abnormalities, attracted 2.8 million adult viewers.

Meanwhile, Five’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation had an audience of over 2.9 million, equating to a 12.5% share.

Earlier, Five News with Natasha Kaplinsky dropped viewers from the start of the week, with an average of around 760,000 tuning in to the first instalment, and almost 410,000 choosing the second. Meanwhile, Neighbours, between 5.30pm and 6pm, lured almost 1.9 million adults, a 13.6% share.
